President of the Senate and Speaker of the Reps election today ...Watch out for surprises
It is no more secret that APC has failed to have one house on issue of who Presides over the both Chambers of the National Assembly .
APC who is in control of the up to 60 Senators-elect could only got 33 Senators who agreed with the positions of the Party to back Senator Lawan and Senator Akume for Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively .
Senator Bukola Saraki group pulled out of his party's mock election and is said to be working with PDP to determine the Senate Leadership.
Note that PDP is with about 44 Senators while Saraki group from APC are about 30 in Number .
By implication of the above , alliance between PDP and Saraki group from APC , they will defeat APC candidates ( Senator Lawan and Senator Akume ) today.
In House of Rep :
The story is not different with the expectations of what is likely to happen in the Senate .
APC has picked Femi Gbajamila for the position of the Speaker , but another APC contender for the office Hon Dogara , rejected the Mock election . In fact he walked out of the Mock election meeting in protest .
He is partnering with the PDP camp and if their deal stands , APC picked Candidate will fail today .
What look like what happened in 2011 Speakership race is about to repeat itself here .
When a Speaker will emerge off the position of the Political party in the control of the majority seats .
Meanwhile , many things is working against the choice of Hon Femi Gbajamila 's selection for Speaker.
A school of thought believes that, it is political disequilibrium to zone Speaker to South West that already with Vice President position . To this school of thought , Femi should be stopped .
2nd School of thought sees Femi Gbajamila Speaker as handing over House of Reps to Tinubu and to this school , it is political dangerous to do that.
3rd School sees Femi Gbajamila as a man that will not work well with the members if elected . This School suspects that he is a drug addict and should not be given such sensitive position of the Speaker.
4th School is like anti corruption group and based their argument on the ground that Femi have so many cases that questions his integrity as a person , especially as it concerns his case in US.
As we watch for the outcome of the election today ...
