Fed/State Govt Relations should lead to development - Tambuwal

Bar Aminu Tambuwal has stated that his government will initiate mechanisms that will make Inter-governmental relations among the variou teirs of government development oriented .

The former Speaker of the Federal House of Reps said this in Akwanga , Nasarawa State, yesterday when he met  PDP delegates from the state. He observed that Nasarawa State 's geographical location will be fully maximized for the benefit of Nasarawa people and Nigeria .

"The time has come for us to convert the closeness of Nasarawa State to the seat of power into real economic and developmental gains for the people of the state. I am here today to tell you that the privilege of proximity to the seat of power will give you the reward of deserved gains under my leadership "


Tambuwal regretted that the state is currently under tension and that the current Federal Government seems not to have solution . He said that his government will do everything possible to ensure that peace reigns all over Nigeria .

"Our Strength as a Nation lies in our diversity and we must use it to become one of the greatest countries of the world . I am that leader that will make Nigerians proud on the International scene " he said.


On his part , the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman, Hon. Francis Inokila , stated that Tambuwal's antecedents recommend him for National leadership .

" Your antecedents recommend you for National leadership . Your former colleague who is here with us , has confirmed that you are one dependable Nigerian who always seeks the common good and Who is focused on the National interest ", he said.


Tambuwal also met with  will the Benue State delegates at Markudi last night, in continuation of his quest to clinch PDP Presidential ticket for 2019 tge Presidential elections .

RESTRUCTURING SUMMIT: GROUP CONGRATULATES NDI IGBO

According to the Nnewi , Anambra State born Engineer ,we should lay emphasis on policies that strengthen relationship among  stakeholders towards improvement of workers' welfare and productivity .

" With synergy among stakeholders, there will be improvement on workers welfare and service delivery which will benefit our economy and her people " he said .

Workers with poor welfare incentives , will generate poor result which will end up reducing supposed economic growth with poor productivity "

The Anambra State born Federal Lawmaker went further to add " I therefore call for more efforts from all the arms and tiers of the Government of our country , to consider workers welfare as priority  "

Private employers of labour must also improve their relationship and working conditions of  workers so that we all can March together towards achieving all-round improved growth result " Azubogu said .

Azubogu also stated that " Our Challenge in Parliament is not only to create law for improvement of worker's welfare , but also to create Parliamentary Policy interventions that will produce enabling environment for Job creation for our youthful population "

BREAKING: Dino Melaye Survives Recall From Senate

The attempt to recall the Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West flopped on Saturday following a low turn-out for the signature the verification. Results announced by INEC at the end of the exercise showed that only 18,742 signatories to the recall petition were verified out of the 189,870 signatories on the petition.

The attempt to recall the Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West flopped on Saturday following a low turn-out for the signature the verification.

Results announced by INEC at the end of the exercise showed that only 18,742 signatories to the recall petition were verified out of the 189,870 signatories on the petition.

The verified signatories fell well below the requirement of the law that 50 per cent and one of the signatories must be verified before the recall process can continue.

Consequently, the embattled Senator Melaye who is in the hospital owing to the drama that followed his arrest has survived the recall attempt.

Here is how the verification exercise turned out in the seven local government areas in the senatorial district, which has 351,146 registered voters.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier assured the people that it was only concerned with transparency in the exercise and could not be held responsible for the poor turnout of petitioners.

The INEC Federal Commissioner in-charge of Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa states, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna, made the statement in Lokoja shortly after the end of the exercise.

Haruna said that the main concern of INEC was to ensure transparency in the process, insisting that the organisation was neutral in the bid to recall Melaye from the Senate.

“Turnout is not our problem; turnout is the problem of parties concerned, ours is to ensure transparency,” Haruna said.

Commenting on insinuations that INEC might tamper with the wish of the people, the commissioner said that nothing like that would happen, stressing that the agency had no interest in who won or lost in the matter.

“Nothing untoward will happen, I assure you . Whatever happened at the polling units is what INEC will announce,” he stated.

Commenting on the mix up in the list of petitioners, Haruna said that mistakes in such exercise was normal but gave an assurance that the mistakes would be corrected.

He lauded the peaceful conduct of the people before and during the exercise.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in Koton Karfe and Lokoja, the people conducted themselves well, although the turnout was poor.

During the exercise, there was no case of malfunctioning of card reader machines while security personnel adequately manned the polling centres.

Shifting from Democratic set up to autocratic regime , start from taking steps . Looking as President Buhari led regime is shifting towards autocratic regime that started with the arrest of opposition Spokesman in November 2015 :

(1) Buhari regime arrested The Opposition Spokesman Barr Olisa Metuh under spurious allegations in November 2015 . Gullible Nigerians believed that he was fighting Corruption not knowing that it was a deliberate agenda to kill opposition for him to drive the country without question .Many said sir , that is good for Metuh after all he is of PDP .

(2)  He moved against Elzazaky , many said that was good after all he was a Muslim and a Shi'ite .

(3) He moved against Journalists and started arresting them ... Many believed that it is non of their business after all journalists are on their own .

(4) He moved against IPOB and Nnamdi KANU , many stated : that fits them after all , we are not members of IPOB .

(5) Buhari then moved against Judges , most of us clapped for him even when disciplining of judges remain within the exclusive jurisdiction of the NJC .

(6) Buhari regime moved to National Assembly , their resolutions became worthless to the executive . Many of us celebrated this against the National Assembly .

(7) President Buhari took $462million from Excess Crude Account in name of buying jets without National Assembly appropriating it inline with our law , some still clap for this build up to anarchy .

(8) Thugs went to Senate Chamber and forcefully took the Senate Mace and Nigeria Security under the executive control could not stop them ... Yet we still clapped.

(9) They Moved against Sen Dino Melaye , we clapped and many said after all he is also an APC chieftain .

(10) President Ordered IGP to relocate to Benue and he refused , we still clapped .

(11) Death of innocents Nigerians across Benue , Nasarawa , Taraba , Zamfara etc keeps increasing everywhere and yet no head of security has been sacked or questioned , we still celebrated after all it is not my state .

(12) He is gradually moving  against Saraki , many of us are watching and celebrating  .

(13) He goes against Senator Ike Ekweremadu , we still clapped .

(14) When they move against Sen Shehu Sani , many will still clap after all he is of APC .

(15) When Buhari moves against Sen Anyinnaya Abaribe , some will still clap , saying ' that PDP senator ... '

(16) Today , the entire Nation has been enveloped in fear and we are still clapping ...

(17 ) What started with Olisa Metuh is gradually enveloping the entire Nation .

Of course in building tyranny based regime , one needs to cripple all known opposition and  institutions of democracy

... But , I see anger building up .

I see Nigerians resist this autocratic regime build up .

Tension is building up every day . Institutions of Democracy are dismantled .

Danger is building up !

I am worried !

God save Nigeria !

Senator Dino Melaye Speaks... Police snatched my passport and snatched back from them - Senator Dino Melaye

“‎My self and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and others were to be on an official trip to Morocco but while some have gone through the Lagos airport today, others are to depart tomorrow.

I got to this airport I was checked in and was already in the lounge waiting for departure. Immigration officers invited me that there is a directive from the police that I can’t travel; that I am on their watch list. And I said it was not true, that the INTERPOL said they had not issued an alert on me. I opened INTERPOL’s website and showed them the denial. But they insisted that it was based on the directive from the police.

I was disembarked and asked me to go to their office (at the airport). They snatched my passport but I snatched my thing back from them. I got it back! I’m still here with them. They circled me and said they were waiting for further instructions from the police.”

FG List: My Reply To The Media Trial - Metuh

My attention has been drawn to the recent release of names of 'looters' by the APC led Federal Government through the Minister of information, Lai Mohammed. By this publication the federal government has breached our constitution by seeking to burden me with two criminal trials on the same charge, one before Justice Okon Abang and the other before the media.
In response to the scandalous publication, I wish to state as follows :


1) Since my arrest on the 5th day of January 2016 and subsequent arraignment, I have refrained from publicly discussing my persecution and travails by the government because as a lawyer, trained in the finest traditions of the Bar, I know that it is wrong to discuss a matter that is subjudice. However the present action of the government leaves me no option than to defend my name and integrity. I have therefore decided to avail the public of the true state of the contrived case against me.


2) The charge against me is that I received the sum of N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser to carry out duties assigned to me as the then National Publicity Secretary of the PDP by then President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The major crux of the prosecution argument is that I ought to have known that the money was a part of an alleged and yet to be proven unlawful activity of Col Sambo Dasuki(rtd), former NSA to President Jonathan.


3) The charge was brought regardless of the fact that neither President Jonthan who gave me the assignment and directed the release of the funds nor Col Dasuki(rtd), who effected the release of the funds have ever been interrogated nor even interviewed in this regard.  As a matter of fact, officers of the office of the National Security Adviser have testified in court that the payment made to me followed all due process usually observed in the establishment.


4) It is of interest to note that the prosecution has not alleged any mens rea or collusion on my part other than the suggestion that I 'ought to have known' of the alleged unlawful activity. Also the alleged illegality of the funds has neither been established in law nor in fact.


5) I have NEVER held a government office and/or position and could not therefore have had any access to government funds.
6) In view of the weakness of the case against me, the APC led Federal Government resorted to all kinds of dirty tactics to dehumanise and intimidate me.They have done everything humanly possible to ensure complete persecution starting from bringing me to court in handcuffs( and parading the capture of Nigeria's most wanted) to media trials and constant interference with my case.


7) I have been reliably informed that the Federal Government has ordered a conviction at all cost to ensure that the PDP is tainted before the elections. The government 's determination to achieve this objective is clearly highlighted by the refusal to allow me attend to my deteriorating health notwithstanding several expert medical opinion on the matter.


8)By going to the media to name me a looter(without cross-checking the definition and dictionary meaning of the word) the federal government has not only given a body language but has issued a direct intimidation and threat to the judiciary to get a compulsory conviction.


9) It is now clear that the APC led government  that thrives in impunity and intimidation of other arms of government will not allow justice to be done in my matter. It is incontrovertible that our country has descended into the worst form of draconian rule where the executive arm directly interferes and seeks to control and determine matters within the purview of the legislature and the judiciary.


10) In view of this unprecedented executive rascality and lawlessness, I have asked my lawyers to review the implications of this latest attack by the government and take appropriate steps for redress

11) In all, my faith is firm in God that this tyranny will not last forever and that no mortal is omnipotent in my matter.

[BREAKING] Obiano Dissolves 18 commissioners, other appointees

The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has sacked the 18 commissioners in his cabinet.
Others fired were political appointees in ministries, departments and agencies.

A letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, obtained by our correspondent in Awka, ordered the affected officers to hand over to permanent secretaries of their respective ministries, departments and agencies or to the most senior civil servants in the absence of permanent secretaries.

The memo directed the affected appointees to hand over any project/vehicles in their possession to the office of the Secretary to the State Government on or before Friday, 16th March, 2018.
The memo read,”His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State, has directed that all political appointees and non-civil servants, heads of MDAs in the state submit their hand over notes/reports on or before Friday, 16th March, 2018 to the Permanent Secretary of their respective MDAs, or to the most senior civil servant there in the absence of a Permanent Secretary.
“All SSAs/SAs are to submit their handover notes/reports to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG.
“A copy of the handover note/report must be submitted to the Secretary to the State Government on or before Friday, 16th March, 2018.

“Further to the above, political appointees and non-civil servants, heads of MDAs and SSAs/SAs under reference, are to also hand over any government project/utility vehicles in their custody to the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government on or before Friday, 16th March 2018.

“The contents of this letter are for your attention and necessary actions, as I assure you of my high regards.”
The memo was copied to the office of the deputy governor, among others.

A Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media, Mr. Oliver Okpala, confirmed the development, saying, “It’s the proper thing to do in the circumstance.”

“When a government is transiting to a new term, it’s proper to disengage all those who served in the former tenure.
“Governor Willie Obiano will start his second term on 17th of March. So, all those who served in the first term should go.

“If the governor wants to reappoint anybody, then it is a fresh contract. So, the disengagement of the political appointees is normal and proper,” Okpala added.
Obiano was re-elected on 18th of November, 2017.

Confusion In Amaechi's Political kingdom As He Falls Out With Senator Abe

The APC River State is in disarray as the former Rivers governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi's relationship with his man Friday, Senator Magnus Abe has fallen apart. Though, after realizing his blunder, Amaechi through Chief Andrew Uchendu came out to twist the truth, but the fact is that the milk has already split.

The problem is all about who will be the APC River State gubernatorial candidate come 2019, as Amaechi has vowed to do all within his power to stop Gov. Wike by all means and control Rivers as the political godfather. This is in spite of the  fact that Rivers people love Gov. Wike because of his good performances so far.

Amaechi's quarrel with Sen. Magnus Abe seems to have given credibility to what Gov. Wike said in an interview with Sun Newspaper few weeks back, where, calling Abba Moro the former Minister of Internal Affairs as a witness, he narrated how Amaechi was not happy when he was made a minister. He went to government House in Port Harcourt to inform his then oga, but Amaechi refused to come downstairs and receive him.

It is believed in some circles that Amaechi is not happy because he want Sen. Abe to forget his gubernatorial ambition in 2019, as he felt that Sen. Abe as a governor will be too independent minded for him to control. This is against his desire to be the overall lord of Rivers politics and dominate it the way Tinubu dominated South-West politics.

This was why he called a meeting of all the Ikwere political leaders and started calling his man Friday, Sen. Abe a traitor and all sorts of unprintable names. This was in a meeting attended by over 150 politicians and was hosted by Chief Andrew Uchendu.
Perhaps, they intended for it to be an in-house affairs, but it was leaked to the press by some of those in attendance who does not want their names to be mentioned.
It was the embarrassment that followed the publication of the   meeting by Sun Newspaper on Monday, 24th April, that forced Amaechi to mandate Chief Andrew Uchendu to make a press release that he Amaechi didn't attend the meeting. How Chief Uchendu, a 69 years old man, going to 70 will step out to deny that Amaechi never attended a meeting, where over 150 people were eye witness, will tell you exactly the character of some of our politicians who are glamouring to rule us.

The truth from our own independent investigation is that  Contrary to the claim by the Chairman, Ikwerre National Forum (INF), Chief Andrew Uchendu that the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, was not at the meeting, where he declared war on his long time political ally, and senator from the state, Magnus Abe, vowing to frustrate the former’s gubernatorial ambition, we gathered from a source that was in attendance that the Transport minister was at the meeting, as reported by Daily Sun on Monday.

At the meeting Amaechi held with APC leaders from the four local government areas in Ikwerre area of the state on Saturday, 22nd April, 2017 at the Port Harcourt residence of Chief Uchendu, where party leaders from Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt City, Emohua and Ikwerre local government areas attended, Amaechi accused Abe, of being a traitor, and vowed to use everything at his disposal to stop Senator Abe.

His reason according to sources was that the Senator had aligned with all the people he earlier introduced him to in Abuja to now work against his desire to install an APC governor of his choice in Rivers, and for this, he Amaechi wasn’t going to support him to vie for the governorship election in 2019.
However, in statement, Chief Uchendu said that the Minister of Transport could not attend the meeting recently convened by him, and as such couldn't have made any derogatory comment about Senator Abe, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, as is being peddled by some mischief makers, noting that, “those who were in attendance will also testify to the fact that we never discussed anything about Senator Abe".

According to him, "Ikwerre National Forum (INF), has been in existence since 2000 and I have been the chairman till date. This body primarily functions as the political think-tank of the Ikwerre people in the Rotimi Amaechi political family, and Rotimi Amaechi has remained the leader of the group.
“The present governor of Rivers State, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, Hon. Austin Okpara (former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives), Chief Emeka Woke (Current Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House), and many other notable Ikwerre politicians, are all products of this formidable political group.
“Since 2000 till date, I have always convened meetings of this body and our agenda has always been to promote the political interests of the Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality”.

That Chief Uchendu stepped out to deny the presence of Amaechi in the said meeting says a lot about his character.
It will be recalled that Amaechi had earlier on called a meeting of Ogoni political leaders in APC to try to convince them to advise their son not to run in 2019, but he was bowed by the people as the Ogonis insisted that they will stand by their son on whichever way he decides to go in 2019, reminding him that, in the spirit of equity, 2015 was supposed to be their turn.
All attempt to hear from Sen. Abe proved abortive as he refused to pick his calls. When we forward an SMS to enquire what his problem with Amaechi is, he didn't reply.

But, the truth is that Amaechi's political kingdom in Rivers is on fire. The centre can no longer hold. Sen. Magnus Abe being the only APC senator in Rivers, Amaechi's political kingdom will crumble if he loses Abe's support.
Gov. Wike must be laughing loud now at them.

Saraki, El-Rufai instigated Buhari not to pick me as VP –Tinubu

Tinubu added, “ What they (Saraki and3a
others from the PDP ) did behind my
back was wrong. We always do things
as a group. By the time they joined , we
were already too far ahead in our
processes but we accommodated them .
“ We agreed to take their state
structures and subsume them into the
part and they all had their opportunity
to nominate the candidates of their

“ But they went behind to instigate
Buhari and some other people in the
party against me on the pretext of
religion. That was not right . They were
canvassing arguments that the
Christians in the North would not vote

same argument within the CPC (the

Change) because at that point , he still
wanted to have Pastor Bakare brought
in as Buhari ’s running mate .”

Tinubu stated that some senators and
governors then , who defected from the
PDP to the APC , met with him on the
eve of the primaries to know if there
was an agreement between him and
Buhari to run together .
He said he evaded the inquiry, which
compelled the allies to join him in
canvassing for Buhari as the right
presidential candidate of the party .
“ I told them that it was better to
resolve such issue after the primaries ,
but they wanted to make it a condition
for supporting Buhari , which , for  me,
was very wrong . I told them I could
not insist on this as a condition for my
support for Buhari. I felt that was not
right to hold Buhari hostage in this
manner .
“ I believe the support that we gave
was fundamental to Buhari clinching
the party nomination. Without that
support, a different outcome would
have been most likely ,” Tinubu added.
He noted that Buhari later requested
him to nominate three persons for the
job , but he (Tinubu ) presented only
Yemi Osinbajo as his ultimate choice .
“ I backed down because I did not
want to be depicted as causing a
problem. I backed away from the
position in order to offer Buhari a
name I once raised with him in 2011 :
that of Professor Yemi Osibanjo ,” he
added.

Obi not my political rival, says Umeh.

FORMER national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, weekend in Awka insisted that the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, was not his political rival because he (Umeh) was not contesting any political office with him.

Addressing reporters after being conferred with the Papal Knight of St, Sylvester, KSS, by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Umeh also said that there was no war between them as both remained brothers.

Umeh said: “Former Governor Peter Obi is not my political rival because I am not contesting anything with him. If you are referring to the senate seat of Anambra Central, he is not my rival because he did not contest for senate in 2015.
.

“He will not take part in the outstanding election and so, there is no way he can be my political rival. I will rather say that he benefitted from me politically because when he served Anambra State for eight years as governor, I stood by him.

“He remains my brother and there is no war between us, but I think that what he is doing is misplaced and it has nothing to do with our relationship as Christians. Christianity is a race where you do not hold forth for anybody. Someone might think that what he is doing is right, but it is only God who justifies our actions.

“In my relationship with people, I try to do those things I was asked to do as a Christian when I was growing up. Even when somebody wants to pull me down, I don’t look backwards.”

Umeh also expressed dissatisfaction over the intrigues trailing the conduct of the Anambra Central senatorial rerun of which he is a candidate.

Vanguard recalls that Umeh had challenged the result of the senatorial election at the election petition tribunal after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Mrs. Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the Anambra central senatorial election.

Having lost at that level, he approached the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which nullified the judgment of the tribunal on December 7, 2015 and ordered for fresh election in the district within 90 days.

The court also barred Ekwunife of the PDP from participating in the rerun, which made Ekwunife to further pursue the matter up to the Supreme Court without success.

The PDP led by the former governor, Obi, also took the matter back to a Federal High Court Abuja, contending that the PDP must participate in the court ordered poll. Justice Chikere, who presided, ordered INEC to accommodate the PDP  in the rerun.

However, INEC had appealed the Federal High Court judgment, contending that from precedents, a party whose candidate was disqualified in an election could not participate in the rerun.Peter

The committee is expected to come up with strong recommendations, after which larger groups will be called again to implement the recommendation of the committee.

Jonathan said they are determined to solve the problem and make sure the party grows stronger again.

Meanwhile, Ali Modu Sheriff and his supporters had earlier walked out of the meeting after he and Makarfi were both disallowed from addressing the summit.

PRESS STATEMENT

1. We are a delegation of the Nzuko Umunna, a Pan-Igbo group, whose members are individual professionals within Nigeria and the Diaspora, as well members/leaders of most pan-Igbo associations and groups.

We were sent to pay a visit to Nnamdi Kanu and his associates currently in detention at the Kuje prison as part of a worldwide consultation process on the peace and development of Alaigbo/Nigeria. We visited to hear his own point of view, and we also shared our views with him.  Our interactions with Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues were frank and fruitful. That visit, as well as our concerns about the state of the nation, have warranted this press conference. We speak as Nigerians, on our behalf, and on behalf of the tens of thousands of professionals in these various associations and groups.


2. We believe that Nigeria has all the potentials to be great and one of the most prosperous nations on earth. Like most countries of the world, it has its own internal contradictions, challenges of national cohesion and development. Every country that has endured and prospered has devised a dynamic system for dealing with its internal contradictions.

No country has prospered by suppressing legitimate agitations or democratic expressions.  Nigeria has greatly come short on these counts. Nigeria has never been more divided than now, with the agitations for self-determination becoming more strident and desperate.

 Most discerning patriots have come to the conclusion that Nigeria as currently structured and governed is unsustainable and drifting to a failed state status. Since 2005, Nigeria has drifted from a rank of 54th position in the global Failed/Fragile State Index to 17th position in 2014 and now to a dangerous 13th position in 2016 (under the ‘Red Alert’ category of countries).

 Perhaps no one sums the sentiments better than the respected Elderstatesman, Professor Ango Abdullahi (reported 12th February, 2017) when he asserts that:

“Nigeria’s project is not working, after 50 to 60 years the Nigerian project is not working despite everything we went through, constitutional conferences, the country is at a standstill……It is unfortunate we are still where we were more than 50 years after independence and have not been able to move away from where our colonial masters left us”.

Our founding fathers and mothers —Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Margaret Ekpo etc - must be turning in their graves. While this might appear an extreme characterization, it sums up the dominant sentiment of people who believe in the urgency of a fundamentally re-engineered new Nigeria.


3. It is our considered view that much of the increasingly desperate agitations are in response to the failures of the dysfunctional/looting elite and poor governance in the context of a failing state that offers increasingly vanishing opportunities and hope for its youth and future generations. We do not condone violence, criminality or brigandage of any sort, and nor should any state do so. However, by failing or refusing to address the fundamental issues and instead concentrating on the symptoms, Nigeria runs the grave risk of turning the entire country into a large prison yard or a police state.

4. Consequent upon the foregoing, we demand the following:


A) In 2015, Nigerians voted for change based on a prospectus contained in the manifesto of the party that won the General Elections.

 That party is the All Progressives Congress (APC), which now controls the Federal Government and 23 out of 36 States of the Federation. As the ruling party, the APC has a duty to deliver on its most fundamental contract with the Nigerian people namely, to restructure the Nigerian federation. According to the APC Manifesto:

“As progressives, we believe that Nigeria is greater than any individual or the sum of her Federating Units, therefore the country can only succeed when all of us have equal rights, where no one is above the law, where the culture of impunity is abolished and where there is level playing field….As a change Agent, APC intend to cleanse our closet to halt the dangerous drift of Nigeria to a failed state; with a conscious plan for post-oil-economy in Nigeria.
To achieve this laudable programme APC government shall restructure the country, devolve power to the units, with the best practices of federalism and eliminate unintended paralysis of the center”.

So far, APC seems to have abandoned its cardinal contract with Nigeria. It is commendable that it is fighting corruption, fighting Boko Haram, and grappling with a deteriorating economy.

However, it is our considered view that without dealing with several of the foundational issues of the Nigerian state in a post-oil economy, much of its efforts will in the end amount to tinkering at the margins.
The current Constitution of Nigeria was designed to consume the oil rents and a system designed for consumption cannot become efficient for production in a post-oil world. But the task of rescuing and rebuilding a new Nigeria must be a multi-partisan, and all-inclusive effort.

There seems to be a national consensus that the current system cannot endure. The APC, PDP, APGA and other political parties, as well as all non-partisan actors and statesmen must come together to save Nigeria. We are in a state of emergency at all levels. The National Council of State needs to be convened urgently, and our legislative houses at the national and state assemblies should wake up to the new realities. If the only thing the current administration succeeds in doing is to re-engineer a new Nigeria, agreed to by its constituent parts and citizens, it would have birthed a new country for the 21st century!


B) The pre-occupation with where the next president of Nigeria will come from is an unnecessary distraction from the crisis at the moment and the urgency of erecting enduring pillars for a peaceful and prosperous country. We demand for a fairer and equitable system where it would not matter where the president or any officer comes from. We want a country where there are growing opportunities for the youths and future generations to live in peace and prosper.

C) We demand for the urgent release of Nnamdi Kanu, his colleagues and all prisoners of conscience, as part of the process of the search for national cohesion and building a new Nigeria.


 There is a legitimate debate among Nigerians on the Biafra question, and there are indeed many Igbos who, like many other Nigerians, do not agree with Nnamdi Kanu’s objective or means. It needs to be stated, however, that no citizen of Nigeria deserves the kind of treatment meted to him and his colleagues.


Government has declined to obey the orders of properly constituted courts in Nigeria for his release. Nnamdi Kanu is not above the law; but nor should he be put beneath it. A situation where the state refuses to obey clear and legitimate court orders for his release and holds him until it gets a favourable order; moves the goalposts endlessly through endless amendment of the charges against him; and now seeks to try him in secret clearly constitutes circumstances that would fall well short of the constitutional guarantees of due process. These also would raise questions about our country’s adherence to human rights, the rule of law and transparent judicial process. We worry that there is now a clear design to place Nnamdi Kanu beneath the law and basic constitutional guarantees of due process. Without the rule of law, no sustainable economic progress can take place.

 The charge of treasonable felony, which is now levied against Nnamdi Kanu has previously been used against Joseph Tarka and Obafemi Awolowo. His trial reminds us of the travails of these historic figures in our country and, indeed, of the more recent military-era treason trial of President Obasanjo. Not many people believe that Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues can receive a fair trial based on the law. This makes Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues political prisoners or prisoners of conscience.


At various times in Nigeria’s history, it became expedient to release such prisoners (e.g. Obafemi Awolowo; Yakubu Gowon and Odumegwu Ojukwu, as well as President Obasanjo) as part of national reconciliation and nation-building. Nigeria is currently a country at war with itself. Just like Nigeria wisely dealt with a potentially explosive “political Sharia” a few years ago, a time like this calls for a lot of wisdom and compromise in the interest of the larger picture.

 Our considered view is that, for taking extraordinary steps to draw international attention to Nigeria’s failing state and the urgency of actions, Nnamdi Kanu and his colleagues deserve to be engaged and not to be held interminably as political detainees.


D) We demand that the right to freedom of association, assembly, peaceful protest, and expression must be accessible to all citizens of Nigeria as guaranteed by Nigeria’s constitution.

Trying to criminalize anyone who talks about self-determination or attempts to use brute force to main and kill innocent protesters in a democracy is a strategy for a time that we no longer live in. This is 2017 and Nigeria is supposed to be a democracy! More than 200 years after 11 states in the US failed their secession bid, their Confederate flag still flies in several of them—even on government buildings.

Since 2012, no less than 23 U.S. states had thousands of their citizens sign petitions to secede from the U.S.  Currently, the State of California is still pressing for Calexit. There were protests all over the US following the election of Donald Trump. Similar examples can be cited in many democracies.  But no one is killed, brutalized or incarcerated by the state.


E) As a people, we believe that our country is big enough for diverse voices to be heard in the confidence that these voices in their respective ways seek to correct our imperfections; to have a stake in constructing a more perfect union. We convey our thanks to the Federal Government and the Acting President, Prof. Osinbajo for reaffirming recently that citizens have the right to peaceful protest, and we are happy that protesters were allowed to express themselves in Lagos, Abuja and other venues recently under police protection. In particular:


* We condemn the use of disproportionate force and live bullets by law enforcement agencies resulting in the killing and maiming of unarmed protesters generally, especially the killing of IPOB/MASSOB members under whatever guise and call on the law enforcement agencies to take steps to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.


* We equally call on the Governors of the States in which these have occurred to exercise their powers under the relevant Commission of Inquiry Laws to investigate these killings through appropriate judicial commissions of inquiry.


* Additionally, we call on the Chief Judges of the respective States to order Coroners Inquiries into these killings as required by the relevant Coroners Laws.
We affirm our belief that it is better for a democracy that people should express their grievances or agitations peacefully and openly than to force them into more dangerous underground operations.

The leader of the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, played host to some prominent Nigerians on Tuesday.

Former CBN governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and renowned economist, Dr. Pat Utomi, led the delegation to Kuje prison, where Kanu is currently in detention.

While the purpose of the visit is not yet clear at the time of this report, it was gathered that the visit was made under the umbrella of Nzuko Umuna, a coalition of Igbo group.

Sources said that the group cuts across all the major groups in the South-east including those in diaspora.

Secretary General of the Lower Niger Congress, Tony Nnadi, who was part of the visit was quoted as saying that the group would work with all aggrieved Igbo groups
Nnadi said: “We have announced a process, on January 1, 2017, the LNC rolled out a registration of three million volunteers who want a referendum.”
“The matter now is how to put a date for the referendum and go to vote.”

You can't grow a commercial activities in any territory where the traders or investors are not making profit . However, attracting business to the state is not enough, but making Policies that will reduce the cost of doing business in the state and create profit margin that will encourage business expansion which will in turn aid our economic recovery"

Without creating road map for commercial activities ,we will remain stagnant economically". Ubah said .

The man many call ideas bear, stated that Igbo race is endowed  with the potentials to rival China in doing business, but regrets that our businessmen and women lack the requisite support of their state government which their Chinese counterparts do enjoy.

" We are the only black race that can mimick the Chinese style of doing business, but unfortunately our business players do not get government support like that of their Chinese counterparts. If I have the opportunity to govern Anambra state, I will not just replicate but internalize the Chinese model of commerce here in Anambra state " he said .

 Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is focusing on finding answers to the disheartening youth unemployment crisis bedeviling our society and which has eaten deep into the fabrics of our system.

Ubah plans to curb this through his numerous
employment platforms and windows for now and would not be distracted by the politics of 2017 Anambra
Governorship election and its attendant posters.

While democracy allows for people to take positions on political matters, he frowns at using his name and pictures for politics without his approval as that could be called suspicious behaviour on the part of those behind it.

Those pasting the posters may be trying to express their democratic /political view ,but the truth is that Ubah is still very focused on issues of employment generation through his private sector multi interventionist platforms .

Ubah therefore, dissociate  himself from these "posters", the "message" and the "association" responsible for this unauthorized adventure.

US Election :Trump defeated those who imposed Buhari on Nigerians - Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Wednesday said the emergence of Donald Trump as the President-elect of the United State of America, USA, is “the beginning of a real change in Nigeria.


Reacting to Trump’s victory, the fiery governor said “it is an indication that those who imposed the present All Progressives Congress, APC, government on Nigerians had just lost out.”


According to Fayose, the US President elect will be able to call Buhari to order over his alleged human right abuses.


Fayose said, “Now that Trump has won, it portends hope for Nigerians that the excesses of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government will stop as the road has ended for those who conspired to impose Buhari on Nigerians.


“Trump presidency symbolises different things to different people and nations. It symbolises God at work and a clear departure from the old order.


“It is also a turning point for Nigeria and Nigerians, particularly those controlling the federal government that must have to change their ways as their allies who imposed them on us just lost out.

“The US elections started and ended seamlessly. The electoral umpire never meddled; the military, police and SSS did not provide cover for ballot snatchers. No printing of doggy result sheets.

ABUJA – DEPUTY Senate President Ike Ekweremadu said Wednesday that the Nigeria opposition political party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will work assiduously with the President-Elect of the United States of America, USA, Mr. Donald Trump.

In a statement by his Special Adviser, Media, Uche Anichikwu, Senator Ekweremadu who congratulated Trump on his victory in the U.S presidential election, said that emerging democracies, including Nigeria, must emulate the democratic and transparent nature of the U.S election, noting that the will of the people and respect for democratic principles must be allowed at all times and also against the backdrop that the election was not inconclusive.

 Ekweremadu, who described the election as “hard-fought”, said the two major contestants gave a good account of themselves, however commended the candidate of the Democratic Party, Mrs. Hilary Clinton, for calling to concede the presidency to her rival and congratulating him on his hard-worn victory. He said:

“Mr. Trump has rightly described the election as historic. But it is not only historic for the U.S, but also for the world. It is an important reminder to the entire world of the true meaning and essence of democracy as government of the people. “I urge him to work for democracy, global peace and prosperity because the peace and prosperity of America is intrinsic in that of the entire world.
