Review NYSC to Reflect Entrepreneur and Job creating Scheme - Ubah

Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has called for the review of NYSC in order for it to become a job creating platform as against what the scheme offers now .

Ubah who while speaking at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka yesterday (20th February 2017)at an event organized by Nigeria Economics Students Association ,(NESA),UNIZIK Chapter, called for the review of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) Scheme from what it represents now to a scheme capable of solving Nigerian employment crisis .

The Anambra State born Entrepreneur Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who was represented by his SSA Media, Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia advocate for new direction with respect to the NYSC Scheme while speaking on the topic " Entrepreneurship and Nigerian Youths : Ifeanyi Ubah Experience and Lesson ".

According to the MD Capital Oil and Gas , " NYSC is a scheme introduced by Federal Government as Interventionist Policy immediately after the civil war as an integration scheme and not for job creation.

But now , the greatest crisis facing Nigeria is that of unemployment and the development calls for the review of NYSC Scheme to reflect job creation .
The scheme founded in 70s is over 40years old and therefore begging for a review " he said .

Ubah went on to back his call for review of NYSC with below analysis ,
" Today , Federal Government pays each Corp member under NYSC Scheme N19,800 (Nineteen thousand Eight hundred naira ) per month and that gives us N237,600 per year and when you factor in other expenses that emanates from camping ,you will be having about N300,000  for each corp member per year .

Federal Government Mobilizes 150,000 graduates every year for NYSC . Let's use 150,000 graduates here .

If in a year , Federal Government mobilizes 150,000 graduates for NYSC and spends around three hundred naira (N300,000) on each of them , this amounts to N45 Billion (Forty Five Billion Naira ) per annum ".

The man many call ideas bearer went on to argue
" we can review the scheme and make our graduates go through various skill acquisition training upon graduation and N300,000 handed to them by Federal Government to establish the Entrepreneurship that he or she might have learned . We can hand over this three hundred thousands naira (N300,000) to our graduates after they must have passed through one three weeks or say one month Entrepreneurship or skill acquisition training as a seed or start up capital. " Ubah argued.

He further argue , "Yes , we can adjust the 12 months service year to three weeks or one month which will be use for the training of these graduates towards self reliance.

According to him , " what is the gain of spending N45 Billion on our graduates after which you push them to unemployment market ? Is it not better we train them and hand each of them the three hundred thousands naira ( N300,000 ) as a seed ?
Some of them can even use their own seed money to go into cooperative groups among themselves towards setting up various businesses upon graduation and by so doing , we will be creating job creators instead of Job seekers" he said.

Ubah challenged the students to redirect the conversation towards providing solutions to the challenges blighting the Nation as the country is faced with multiple economic shocks.

" You must start raising agenda for the policy makers of this Nation. Creating solution is what makes an Entrepreneur tick and you must rise to the occasion especially now that our Nation faces multiple economic shocks." he said.

" Good enough, there is hope because you are here today in this hall as  stakeholders in this great search for solutions ".

Ubah later called on the government to redirect its focus in creating enabling environment for Entrepreneurship to thrive in Nigeria.

"The truth is that Govt cannot do this alone and there is need for Government at all levels to start creating enabling environment through Public Policies that will stimulate entrepreneurial growth in the country in order to forestall recurring economic crisis in the country ".

Prof. Nwogwugwu of Economics Department, University Nnamdi Azikiwe University toed the line of Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah when he told the students that they must start thinking as job creators " You are here to learn how to solve problems facing our Nation and not to create one " he said.

Students later threw questions to Ubah who graciously responded .

My vision is to breed the next generation superstars - Ubah.

The Nigeria born innovator and investor Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has restated his commitment towards youth empowerment by stating that his vision is to breed the next generation superstars not only from football but from other areas of sports.

Ubah who is building a $300million (USD) worth games village in Anambra State made this disclosure in far away Egypt where FC Ifeanyi Ubah are to play against Al-Masry SC of Egypt in CAF Confederation Cup return leg this evening.

Ubah who led some of the management team of FC Ifeanyi Ubah that included the Building Engineer handling the construction of FC Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village back home, the media team of the club, the club chairman, the stadium manager of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, among others on the tour of Tolip Sports City Hotel and Spa, Cairo told his audience after seeing some young Egyptians undergoing training on the different sports facilities within the sport city arena that;

" My vision is to breed next generation superstars and we can achieve it through regular programs that will marry the academic consciousness of our people"

It is of note that Tolip Sports City has a five star Hotel, Cultural Center, Indoor Sports Halls, Swimming Pool for athletes and Amusement Park for kids.
One notable fact is that the Tolip Sports City has architectural semblance of FC Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village. Both have multiple sports facilities.

Ubah who during the tour observed that kids under 15 years old were busy practising as their coaches dished out instructions and advice while their parents kept close watch as their wards grew mentally.

It is of note that while some kids were busy with their coaches on area of football, others were equally busy with their coaches on area of table tennis, among others. Ubah went on to add that;
" this is in conformity with my vision back home. My vision is to identify and nurture young ones to superstar status and what I am seeing here in Egypt is enough motivation to me " he asserted.

Ubah would always draw the attention of the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium site Engineer, Engr. Arinze Akoh to any new innovations he observed from the Sport City and the Engineer would take notes and sometimes made sketches for reference sake as it concerns the ongoing FC Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village in Nnewi/Ozubulu, Anambra State, Nigeria.

The football entrepreneur Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah went on to tell those that were with him that most of them would not have been with him in Egypt save for the fact that they needed to learn one or two things from the success story of Egypt's sports development so that we can replicate and best apply the lessons to our quest for success back home.

" We are here not only to play football but to learn more from the host people and their facilities, so that we can continue to improve on ours back home. Some of you here are with me for the purpose of learning from those that are doing better and coming back with what you have learnt and seeing how we can add it to what we are doing back home is a task that we must undertake" he said.

Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah while touring the Torip Sports City, played some of the indoor sports games with some members of the delegation. Ubah who was a former goalkeeper enjoyed himself with some display of table tennis artistry by playing and defeating any member of the delegation that came his way as an opponent in a table tennis engagement during the tour of the sports city.

Al-Masry Sc will this evening at 6 pm local time play FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the second leg of CAF Confederation CUP.

The Anambra State based team defeated Egyptian's A-Masry Sc one goal to nil(1-0) in the first leg last Sunday in Nnewi/Ozubulu Anambra State.

FOOTBALL MADE IN ANAMBRA HITS TOP GEAR AS GREEK CONSULAR GENERAL TO NIGERIA PAYS A VISIT TO IFEANYI UBAH GAMES VILLAGE

The Ifeanyi Ubah led Anambra State Football Association, yesterday kicked off the Football Made in Anambra project with over 600 under-15 boys drawn from nine Local Government areas in Anambra State. The Local Governments represented were Njikoka, Awka North, Idemili North, Idemili South, Orumba South, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West and Anaocha.

The FIFA endorsed programme which took place at the Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium was graced by the presence of the Greek Consular General to Nigeria, Lykourgos Antonios Kaplanis as he was treated to a colourful demonstration with the ball by the boys as the FC Ifeanyi Ubah anthem was sung.

Recall that the Managing Director of Westham United, Angus Kinnear earlier in the month flagged off the Football Made in Anambra '1 Family - 1 Footballer' initiative by donating a whooping sum of 30,000 British Pounds to the Anambra State Football Association while promising to send technical assistance once the project hits top gear.

The project which is structured to unearth budding talents is billed to engage 50,000 children from 50,000 families and earmarked to produce at least in 5 Messis and 5 Ronaldos in Anambra state within the next five years. The first batch of young boys from nine local governments were given the opportunity to display their God given talents under the watchful eyes of Chief Mike Umeh, the former Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association and the Chairmen of the various Local Government Football Councils present at the occasion.

Also on display to Greek Consular General was the multi-billion dollar Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village under construction as Dr. Ubah took time to take him round the facility in a show of the management's effort to promote and project sports as well as buttress the essence of meaningfully engaging the teeming youths of the state through active participation in sports culture and talent development.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, thanked the Greek Consular General for finding the time and deeming it worthy to visit the facility domiciled in the Industrial Capital of the state. Dr. Ubah stated that upon completion, the world-class structure cum facility will aid in the continuous harnessing of football talents for the youths in the state, hosting of national and international games as well as serve as a mammoth site for tourist attraction. Dr. Ubah also expressed thanks to the children who were on song, charging them to go home and do more with the footballs and kits given to them as he was eager to see improvements in their skills when their batch gathers again in three weeks time. "I am very excited, having witnessed what these young boys can do with the ball. We will make sure that they continue to grow and above all, reach out to more children. My advice to them is just to go home and engage themselves more with the footballs and kits we have provided for them. We believe that with the kind of investments we are making in football, we will able to produce the Ronaldos and Messis of the next generation. You can see that some of the kids already have their role models, some of them idolize Ronaldo, Messi, Drogba, Ozil, Kanu Nwankwo and Jayjay. This shows their focus and the height of their aspirations at this tender age and with proper tutelage, their dreams would be realized". Dr. Ubah ended his remarks by thanking the people of Nnewi and Anambra at large for their support and prayers on the journey so far both in club administration and his quest to transform and redefine football essence in Anambra State and Nigeria.

The youngsters also expressed their delight at being part of this novel initiative, noting that this has opened a whole new channel to them in a quest to replicate the successes of their idols. "I am very happy to be part of this programme; I want to thank Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for giving us this opportunity, especially for the footballs, the jersey, and the boots. I promise I won’t let him down", Chidi Aghadi affirmed.

Highlights of the event were series of novelty football matches for the U-15 boys from the different local government areas present as Anambra East defeated Orumba South by a goal to nil, Njikoka lost to Anambra West 5-4 on penalties after a goalless affair in regulation time. Also the FC IfeanyiUbah ''Feeders team'' took on the ''Trial (Screening) Team'' to add to the glamour of the event while some of the under-15 boys were gifted with N10,000 for displaying a keen understanding of the game.

The second batch of boys from the remaining Local Governments will be on song in two weeks time as the Anambra State Football Association's Football Made in Anambra gains further momentum.

If you notice in Nigeria, you will see that everyone is looking at their mobile phone this obviously suggests that users are addicted to smartphones.Everyone wants to purchase a mobile phone with more functions in less cost and what's much better than Android phones. One thing I like about Android is that you will get a mobile phone at the most affordable price.
As you know that Google is frequently launching their latest OS KitKat, lollipop, Marshmallow, etc

Here I am discussing why Nigerians are going for Android over Apple iPhones and this post also covers some features of both OS.

1. Cost

This is the main reason why Nigerians are moving to Android devices. If you notice the cost of Android phone starts from N15,000. As compared to this if you choose the iPhone you need N150,000+, and you will get fewer features compared with android mobile. Forget about the brand people wants more features in less cost.

2. Removable gadgets

The android mobiles have enough internal memory as much as 16 GB even you can add external sd cards if you need additional space. In case of iPhone, you will get only an inbuilt memory approximately 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB you cannot increase the memory due to the fact that there is no external memory card slot readily available in Apple gadgets.
As lots of people want to watch movies, videos on their smartphone they need enough space, for such people iPhone is not for them. Clearly, Nigerians will find another phone which will meet their requirement.

3. Bluetooth.

If you want to transfer information from one mobile to another you can use Bluetooth technology. In past, some Nigerians used to buy phones on the basis of accessibility of Bluetooth functionality.
In iPhone, you can move data from one mobile to another but within iPhone devices, it implies that there is limitation of transferring information within iPhone.

4. Easy to use, weight, screen size

The interface of Android is clearer that anybody can comprehend, no need for extra manual once you get mobile you will get to understand it.In the case of iPhone, there are a lot of complex features like Apple ID, app store, Siri, and so on. which ordinary people do not know about. The other factor is weight.
The Android mobile weight is less than iPhone. Some people do not like more weight to carry in their pocket.
The iPhone screen size is fixed and I would state that it is extremely small as compared with android mobile.People will like to watch movies on big screen devices which iPhone will not offer.Maybe we need to give iPhone 6+ thumbs up for 5.5 inches.

5. Phone availability

There are thousands of android phones readily available in the market with different screen size, different brand names, replaceable battery etc. however if you take a look at iPhone, there are few phones available in the market with the expensive price compared to Android. If you want to buy an iPhone, then you have just a few choices.

6. App store vs Play-store

In google store you will get countless of apps at free of charge however in iPhone app store there is a minimal application that you have to pay cash. In Android, you can take a backup of that application, and you can move it to another gadget all such features means a lot to people.

Final words:
After checking all the features of both OS, I will pick Android because of pricing aspect of it. Otherwise, Apple is a good brand, and it constantly produces good quality product. The style of iPhone has no competition as they are on the top of all smartphones.Though I have actually used android devices before now, I have actually purchased iPhone 6 to see how it works and why people likes Apple.

Seventy-year-old Tanko Isiyaku in this interview with Friday Olokor tells the story of his daughter, Habiba’s marriage to one Jamilu Lawal said to be an aide to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabiru Usman. Habiba is believed to have been forced into marriage despite her parents kicking against it. she is 14.

Kindly tell us about yourself.

My name is Isiyaku Tanko. I am from Warkaza community in Kudun Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. I am a Christian and belong to the ECWA denomination. I am 70 years old.

When did you hear about the marriage of your daughter to Jamilu Lawal, believed to be an aide to the Emir of Katsina?

It was when she left home that we heard about it. She left home on August 16.

When was the last time you saw her?

It was when I went to see the state commissioner of police about the matter that I saw her last. I have forgotten the date.

Did you marry her off to him?

I did not do that. She was forced into marriage.

Do you know Jamilu Lawal?

Yes, he lived close to us in the community.

When you said he lived close to your family, was he a friend to your family?
No, not at all.

Do you know if there was an affair between him and your daughter?

Honestly, I do not think anything like that happened.

Before she was taken away, did you notice any change in your daughter’s behaviour especially her religious beliefs?

No, there was no such thing. She did not change in any way, not even in her religion. She is a very dedicated Christian who believes in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Is it true that you wrote the emirate council to apologise for any embarrassment you might have caused it on the issue of your daughter?

No. I was given a prepared form. I was only told to sign on it and with a threat that if I did not do so, they would kill me.

Did your family receive any money, precisely N50,000, as the bride price for her marriage to Lawal?

(Laughs). It is a lie from the pit of hell.

What would you want the government to do?

They should please help me and bring back my daughter. I want her to remain as she was before she was forcefully taken away from us. My daughter was a virgin before her abduction to the emir’s palace.

Is there a threat to your life and that of your family members because of the development?

I believe that I am fine. I believe that everything is alright; if God be for me, nothing can be against me.

What are you doing to get your daughter back since you said you did not give her out in marriage to Lawal or anybody?

I was forced to sign the form. I would not have allowed them to take her away from me. I was forced. I really want the Federal Government to support me because if they leave this battle for me, I won’t be able to do anything.

How old is she?

She is 14 years old.

Your daughter was asked three questions by the Kaora Katsina on behalf of the Katsina Emirate Council on whether she was forcefully converted to Islam, whether the emirate council or any other person forced her into the marriage and whether she was already menstruating at the time she met Lawal. She answered yes to the questions. Were you in the palace on that day?

Yes, I was. When they asked her to stand up and follow me, she refused saying she would not follow me. I believe that my daughter was charmed. The way I saw her that day was not the way my
daughter was. She has never disobeyed me.

Is it true that when you went to the palace you were threatened?

Yes, I was molested. I faced serious threat, they even wanted to beat and mob me.

Did you go to the palace alone?

No, five people accompanied me there. They included Yahaya Umaru, Jiamakan Gabriel, Yusuf Haruna, Reverend Bankuru and Lubulumu.

How many children do you have?
I have eight children.

Are they all from the same woman?

Yes, from one woman. Habiba is my seventh child. I have four boys and four girls.

Has there been any of case of abduction of  young female children for forced marriage in your community?

I have never seen any in my community. This is why I am very disturbed.

Are you not afraid your daughter could have been impregnated?

God will take control. I really do not know what to say as I am very disturbed at the moment. I pray such does not happen. She is still a small child. Before my daughter was taken away, she was a virgin but I do not know what is happening now. I want them to return my daughter to me as a virgin. That is what I want.

Has she started menstruating as the emirate council claimed before she met Lawal?

Honestly, I have never noticed anything of such.

What do you seek from President Muhammadu Buhari who is also from Katsina State regarding the matter?

I want President Muhammadu Buhari to assist me to get my daughter back. I desire nothing more.

Where is your wife?

She has travelled out of the community because the abduction of her daughter traumatised her. She has not been feeling well. I am also not feeling well at the moment because of the issue.

How did your other children receive the news of what happened to their sister?

Everybody is worried especially the last child who is a boy.

How old is your last child?

He clocked 12 years on Friday.

What class was your daughter before she was taken away?

She was in Junior Secondary School 3.

What has been the role of the police in the  matter?

The Katsina State commissioner of police tried. He spoke strongly about the matter, telling them to give me back my daughter because she is a minor and still under her parents. He told them to allow her to go.

Over 30 suspected cultists reportedly attacked a police patrol team at Eyamba Street, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River state at about 9:30p.m on Tuesday, October 11th.

There is a renewed war between various factions of cult groups. It is important to note that these activities are as a result of the coffin that was paraded round Calabar to welcome Governor Ben Ayade. The parade was sponsored by Ayade appointees. The spiritual implications of parading a coffin was explicitly talked about in my previous article titled “Ayade demonizes Cross River State.

The Internet was abuzz on Saturday after the story of a student, Hillary Agbo-Odeh, who graduated with flying colours against all the odds, went viral.
According to an online medium, Idoma Voice, 30-year-old Agbo-Odeh completed his Psychology programme in Benue State University with a first-class degree after no less than 17 failed courses as an undergraduate.

The Idoma native reportedly completed his secondary education in 2003 before applying for a pre-degree programme at BSU in 2005 with the hope of studying Medicine and Surgery.
Though Agbo-Odeh was said to have emerged as one of the best in the remedial programme that year, he was offered admission to study Physics instead.

It said, “In frustration, he took the plunge and settled with the Physics (programme) he was offered with little interest in the course. He struggled with the course due to lack of interest. It wasn’t surprising at all that he could not cope with studies as frustration and depression set in his academic pursuit.
“Agbo-Odeh was at his lowest ebb in his final year when his 300-level result was published. He was at the bottom of his class crawling with 17 carry-overs; he was placed on probation by the school authority. He became the subject of mockery in the school among his colleagues.
“Hilary came to a decision point: ‘Why stay here and be withdrawn?’ He told himself the hard truth, it was time to move forward regardless of the storms.”

The online medium added that Agbo-Odeh then picked a new form for the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board Exams and applied for Psychology, which he considered to be closely related to Medicine.
“By the second semester of his final year (as a Physics student), the JAMB admission (list) was out and he was admitted to study Psychology. Hence, he withdrew from the Physics Department and started a fresh academic journey in the department of Psychology.
“The young resilient Idoma boy from Ohimini, the worst student in Physics, with 17 carry-overs to his name, would graduate from the Psychology Department of the same university with a cumulative grade point average of 4.57.

“His outstanding performance broke many records in the university, including the pioneer first class in the Psychology Department since the university’s inception in 1992. He also became the overall best graduating student of the 14th and 15th combined convocation of BSU held on January 17, 2015. His exploits came with several rewards, he bagged seven academic awards including the Tony and Awele Elumelu Prize for Excellence.”

Fast rising NPFL side and first African partner of West Ham United FC of England, FC Ifeanyi Ubah will this week host their London-based partners, West Ham United FC in Lagos and Nnewi in a bid to take the partnership between both football clubs to the next level.
Top executives at West Ham United led by the Managing Director, Angus Kinnear and President of FC Ifeanyi Ubah,  Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah will on Wednesday unveil the blueprint that will guide the hunt for the next Nigerian superstar. The project which aims to identify talented kids between the ages of 6 – 15 will kick off in December with coaches and scouts of West Ham United in regular attendance to offer technical support throughout the duration of the project. Selected kids will be enrolled into Ifeanyi Ubah football academy with the aim of harnessing their talents, thus providing West Ham United with a pool of talented players to pick from on a quarterly basis.
Recall that FC Ifeanyi Ubah recently signed a long term partnership with West Ham United back in August that will see the two football clubs join forces on a number of football-related projects led by FC Ifeanyi Ubah, from best-practice coaching initiatives to establishing grass roots football programmes in Nigeria, all with a view to improving the standard of football across the region.
Speaking to newsmen at the weekend in Lagos,  Dr. Ubah explained the aim of the ‘Talent Hunt Programme’  and how that will metamorphose to a football Academy run by both West Ham United FC and FC Ifeanyi Ubah. “Our discussions since the unveiling of this historic partnership has always been centred on football development, with the discovery of future football stars in a country so rich in football talents waiting to be harnessed top on the priority list. Anambra State's 50 Army Quota and How Governor Obiano took 37 to Aguleri town alone ...

By Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia.

In the recent 2015 Army recruitment Exercise,  Anambra State under our great governor Obiano was allocated 50 slots.

In the said 50 slots, the Governor alloted 37 slots to himself and filled it with Aguleri indigenes.

While one expected that Governor Obiano - a benefactor of 'equity'  will exhibit the spirit of fairness, equity and State Character considering Anambra State 's 177 towns and atleast 21 Local Govt Areas , but our governor failed thereby  reducing himself to HIS EXCELLENCY, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF AGULERI TOWN!

How can one explain that our governor took 37 out of the 50 slots  being the Anambra State Quota to his Aguleri town!?

The governor submitted 30 men and 7 female from Aguleri town from our 50 quota!

The remaining only 13 slots that were meant
for the rest of 176 towns of Anambra state was fiercely contested for by our Osodieme.

The wife of the governor, if not for some unavoidable interest personalities wanted to take the remaining 13 slots !

After which she collected hers which was 5 slots .

Sadly, many Anambra youths who ran around filling  Military forms and getting Letter of Recommendations , never knew that the little one that was even allocated to the state have been Tied to Aguleri and Governor's wife .

Please i need someone to explain this altitude of reducing a state blessed by God to a Town Union

Bad enough!

Meanwhile, I challenge the Commissioner for Information of Anambra State to debunk this information by furnishing Ndi Anambra the details  and particulars of the 50 names of the 2015 Army Recruitment Tradesmen/ non-tradesmen & DSC(of Anambra State Quota) they submitted  for our people to know their towns !

How can one even explain that you will take what belong to the entire state to one town ?

Not even one LGA , but one town !

When Ndi Anambra  across the 177 towns cry for this job opportunities , a govt that should be govt of all , decided to be govt of one town !

History is taking note and at appropriate time, it will question our actions and inactions .

I call Anambra State Youths especially the victims of this arrested ambition due to the clannish behaviour of Anambra State's first family , to remain calm as we quest to get it Right !

Ndi Anambra Youth, remain Calm and never give up as what works is within us and we shall get it right.

To my governor , His Excellency Gov Obiano, please see reason to be aware that it is not only the youths from Aguleri that needs job.

Thanks.

God bless Anambra State.
